So Much Going On!

Visual Stimulation 2

By Jerry Price

This is nothing new to you, but we are in the middle of a crisis/revolution in our land. Let me be candid would you?

I don’t know if it’s about being older and seeing the impact of how I’ve lived life with Judy/family, the path I took in ministry, how God lead me into places where I’ve observed and written about Twisted Thinking, how God is and has been faithful or what? But it’s like I must say something about this pit in my stomach.

Frankly there have been times when I have felt like Isaiah, where God called him to walk about the country “buck-naked” to say what God told him to say. That’s a vulnerable and shameful picture to say the lease, isn’t it? He told Isaiah to demonstrate that this is what will happen to the people that God’s people put their trust in (like Cush and Egypt), other than Him. In case you’re wondering where that passage is, it’s Isaiah 20.

So much is going on politically and one wonders where to turn. So much lying and deceit! So much abandonment of people groups, like what happened in Benghazi and having a sense that we’re not safe. Yes, I saw the movie 13 Hours and was deeply troubled about that thought.

There seems to be a moral and spiritual emptiness where even God’s people have eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die attitudes, instead of weeping and mourning when God calls for it. I realize there are places this isn’t happening too. Even Franklin Graham, in his alarm, will make 2016 the year he visits every capitol in every state of the USA, to talk about moral and spiritual leadership failures in our homeland.

Hope! Where’s the Hope? Who is our Hope is the better thought.

Minding the gap: It’s better to weep and mourn what it means when God is forgotten and pushed aside as irrelevant. Foolish, because God has the last word. People with hope in Christ get that.

God is present and finding his voice, seeing him faithful and experiencing a relationship with Him, through His Word, is core to any temptation of putting our trust in anyone, or source but him—even when so much is going on.

2016 – The Earth Is Full Of His Glory!

Isaiah 6:3, records Isaiah seeing and hearing what the seraphim were saying to each other. “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!”

I was struck by this thought, while viewing the Instagram pictures my daughter Jana shares from the Holland’s faith journey throughout the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. You can see for yourself on

To mind the gap regarding Isaiah’s own twistedness, God shows Isaiah that glory and he’s convicted of being unclean before the Lord of hosts. Isaiah recognizes he is lost, has unclean lips, and dwells in the mist of a people of unclean lips. How was he able to understand that? He said, “…for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”

Broken and contrite, Isaiah suddenly connects with God after being disconnected from him. Then, God uses the seraphim to take a burning coal to touch Isaiah’s lips and pronounces that his guilt is removed and sin atoned for.

Right after this moment, Isaiah wants to serve the Lord and is commissioned by God to speak with clean lips. But what he is told to say to a people of twisted lifestyles is a warning and yet redemptive.

That’s when it hit me. As beautiful as creation is, the glory of the Lord is about relationships and taking broken, twisted and disconnected people (of which every one is before God just as Isaiah was) to make them whole and clean before him. God has a redemptive heart. His glory is revealed in and about people who fill the whole earth!

As an example of this, check out this video on the Holland’s Instagram site and may 2016 be a year where that glory continues to shine in and with all of you.

Transforming Twisted Thinking will be coming out in an audio book narrated by Jerry Price. Will keep you informed on the publishing date. HOPEFULLY SOON!
