The Unknown

Military-Predator-Drone-002

Today, I was watching a documentary on the history of Drones. Warfare is fast-moving to not putting boots on the ground or sending pilots into a shock and awe attack as the first line of offense or defense.

In today’s world, drone warfare is beginning to equal what air strikes of WW2 accomplished. From an altitude of five miles, the camera on a drone can see in detail – to the point of a person waving their arms – and take out the enemy. Heck, I just viewed the last show of 24 and that’s what was going on for Jack Bauer as he made his way on a ship toward the enemy.

Robotic flight sees all! Even, Private Detectives are purchasing these things. The documentary showed one day there could be as much as 60,000 drones flying around in our country to gather information or carry out a service – not always as a means for warfare.

As sophisticated as all of this is, one thing gets in the way of drones being perfected; being prepared for the unknown and making the adjustment.

I have a problem with the unknown. I don’t know if it goes back to being afraid of the boogeyman as a kid or remembering when I was three-years-old how a hobo came into our home that was near a railroad crossing and crawled underneath my bed. I cried and my father came into the room to take a look. He took control of the hobo and forced him out of our house. I’ll never forget that moment!

Making decisions in the middle of the unknown does call for faith, which operates from intelligence and evidence previously gathered and trusting the results. Information is a premium in life. Without knowledge there is no wisdom.

I get the need to KNOW and even with what’s happening that involves drones, it does remind me how important it is to Mind The Gap as a responsible man who’s aware that nothing internally or externally gets by God. He’s omniscient.

The Apostle Paul puts it this way. “Another reason for right living is that you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for the coming of our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So don’t live in darkness…Clothe yourselves with the armor of right living, as those who live in the light.” Romans 13:11-12 NLT

Now there’s an opportunity to face the unknowns of living life based on knowing Jesus is alive and will return. That hope means we can make the adjustment to right living. Something drones don’t know how to do.
